GUEST ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT!
You don’t want to miss this year’s conference! We have the talented Mackenzie Melemed lined up as our guest artist for a presentation, masterclass, and recital.
American pianist Mackenzie Melemed, recipient of the 2022 Avery Fisher Career Grant, is widely acclaimed for his nuanced interpretations, technical mastery, and profound artistic insight. Described by The New York Times as “an excellent young pianist,” he has performed extensively as both soloist and chamber musician, appearing with major orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic, and in recital at iconic venues including Carnegie Hall. Melemed was a laureate of the 2021 American Pianists Awards, the 2019 China International Music Competition, and the 2017 Maj Lind International Piano Competition.
A native of Massachusetts, Melemed began performing at an early age—making his national television debut on The Rosie O’Donnell Show at six and appearing annually at the White House from ages nine to thirteen. Melemed is a Steinway Artist and graduate of The Juilliard School, where he earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Artist Diploma degrees under the guidance of Robert McDonald and Emanuel Ax.
With a distinctive voice and unwavering commitment to uncovering rarely heard repertoire, Melemed continues to chart a bold, expressive path in today’s classical music landscape. Keys Across America is one of his bold initiatives, with the aim of bringing incredible American piano music to every corner of the country.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does my registration include?
Your registration fee includes all the conference sessions, the Annual Business Luncheon and the Friday night Banquet Dinner, and the Friday night performance. It does not include hotel costs or other meals, including breakfasts and Friday lunch. Every attendee is required to make their own transportation and lodging plans.
Are conference fees refundable?
No. All fees, including meals, are non-refundable.
Can I take my friend, spouse, or child to a session without registering them?
The sessions are for registered individuals only. Should you bring additional guests, they will need to be registered and paid, regardless of how many sessions they wish to attend. If your guests wish to attend the Annual Business Luncheon or Friday night Banquet Dinner and performance, they may make reservations in the reservation system.
How do I get a roommate or someone to carpool to share a hotel room with?
WMTA does not facilitate roommates or carpools. If you are seeking a roommate or a carpool, we recommend that you contact your Local Association President to see who else is attending from your area.
Can I bring my own food?
During the Annual Business Luncheon or Friday night Banquet Dinner, all food must be supplied and prepared by the catering service at our venue. Please indicate any food restrictions you may have during your registration, and we will do our best to accommodate those.
When will I receive my registration confirmation?
Registration is done online, and you will receive your confirmation automatically via email upon completion of the registration process. Check your junk mail if you don’t receive confirmation. If you don’t find it, you can reach out to the Office Manager at WisconsinMTA@gmail.com to check on your registration status.
What should I do when I arrive at the conference?
The Conference registration desk will open Friday morning. The specific opening time of the registration table is posted online and in the Conference Booklet. You can pick up your nametag and any other updated information.
What is the appropriate dress for this?
There is no dress code for the Conference. Dress in what makes you feel comfortable. Remember that Conference rooms can vary widely in temperature, and we don’t typically have control over the thermostats. We recommend you wear layers if you tend to get cool.
When will the conference schedule be available?
We aim to publish the Conference schedule and sessions by July. The schedule frequently changes as the Conference plans come together throughout the year. As soon as we are confident in enough of the plan, the full Conference schedule, with rooms and times, will be available online before the conference.
Do you provide scooters, wheelchairs, or hearing devices?
No, we do not. We do try to make the WMTA Conference accessible to everybody, but you should contact our office if you are concerned about specific needs so that we can plan for your attendance. You can reach the Office Manager at wisconsinMTA@gmail.com.
