Session Proposals

 Session Proposals are Currently Open for 2026

We look forward to receiving your proposal for the WMTA Conference. All accepted presenters will receive a $100 honorarium. Presenters are responsible for their own conference registration, hotel accommodations, and transportation. Session proposals must be submitted by March 1, 2026. Please note that conference registration is not included in your presenter contract. While participation in other conference activities is not required, it is strongly encouraged. Presentations are held in one-hour blocks with a 45-minute presentation, 5 minutes for questions, and 10 minutes for a break before the next session. All presentations must be non-commercial. If you are interested in delivering a commercial presentation, please refer to the information for sponsors or exhibitors.

You Will Need:

  • Title of the Session, Max of 50 Characters for the Schedule
  • 150-200 Word Session Description to be used by the Selection Committee
  • 30-60 Word Session Description for the Conference Booklet
  • 30-60 Word Biography for the Conference Booklet
  • Headshot of each presenter as .jpg file for the Conference Booklet

Our theme is Soundtrack of America – themed topics are encouraged but not required.

Session Proposals

These are topics or presentations that our members have requested:

  • Meeting the needs of neurodivergent or special ed students
  • Performance presentations
  • Technique for beginners
  • Pedagogy for those transitioning out of methods
  • Progressing dedicated students to a bigger repertoire, preparing for eventual college auditions
  • Brain-based learning
  • Legal resources and taxes
  • General music topics- not just for piano, such as theory, rhythm, practice motivation, goal setting, creating good practice habits for every age and stage, building a music community, etc
  • Adjudicating – how to get started, how to give quality feedback in a short time
  • Duet/ensemble preparations

Conference Sessions Submissions

We are now seeking session proposals for the 2026 Annual Conference, and all proposals must be received before the close date of March 1, 2026. Please note that sessions are noncommercial in nature.
