at the Radisson Hotel in La Crosse, WI

Come join the fun at the 2023 WMTA Fall Conference!
This fall’s conference is jam-packed with a record 21 presentations! Learn about new strategies to improve student practicing, incorporating mindful practices into your teaching, how to help your students become lifelong musicians, and much more!

Please plan to join your colleagues from around the state in beautiful La Crosse as we take time to connect, rejuvenate, and share great ideas with each other. We look forward to having you join us to spark new creativity and invigorate your teaching career!

Conference Registration

ll registrations will be completed online. Attendance will be $145 for regular members, $165 for non members. If it’s your first time attending, you will only pay $115. Students are subsidized at $95. If you have someone you’d like to bring for the Friday awards banquet, the dinner is $35 and includes the evening performance.

Please sign up by August 15 for the early bird discount of $10 off.

Thursday night we will kick off the weekend with a social hour (cash bar) and Executive Board meeting. On Friday, we’ll start with Opening Remarks and Exhibitors at 8am. If you have a required WMTA business lunch meeting, your Friday lunch will be included. At 5pm on Friday, there will be a social hour followed by an awards banquet and a music program. You may bring guests to this event at an additional cost of $35. On Saturday, programming will run from about 8:30am to 3pm. Saturday lunch will be included during our annual business meeting. Breakfast and Friday lunch are not included but they can be purchased at the hotel restaurant or at area restaurants. We encourage you to stay in La Crosse for the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra Concert on Saturday evening at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center at 7:30pm (https://www.lacrossesymphony.org/event/saluting-our-own/).

2023 Hotel Information: Radisson Hotel, La Crosse

The conference is located at the Radisson Hotel. There are multiple events in La Crosse this weekend and hotel options at the Radisson are now limited as of August 15. We encourage you to make your hotel reservations right away. The Radisson hotel is booked until other conferences release blocks. We encourage you to check into these two nearby hotels.

Guest Presenter and Friday Night Performer- Dr. Jonathan Sokasitis

Dr. Sokasits will present a Friday evening solo recital featuring virtuoso piano transcriptions written by Rachmaninoff, and concert etudes on songs by Billy Joel written by Sokasits. Great way to relax and enjoy the end of the day within the industry you love.   Your registration includes your Friday night dinner and this performance.  If you wish to bring a guest, please see the registration form and you can buy a ticket for guests to join you in this concert.

Frequently Asked Conference Questions

Who should register for the conference?

Everyone attending the Conference must register. This includes anyone attending and/or presenting. The only event not requiring registration is the concert on Friday which is free and open to the public. Dinner on Friday night is $35 via the reservation system.

What does my registration include?

Your registration fee includes the conference, the Friday evening banquet and performance and Saturday luncheon. Please notify us if you have any special dietary restrictions. It does not include hotel costs or other meals, including breakfasts and Friday lunch. Every attendee is required to make their own transportation and lodging plans. There are many restaurants around the hotel for great options. The hotel also has a restaurant for breakfast and dinner.

Are conference fees refundable?

No. All fees (including meals) are non-refundable.

Can I take my friend, spouse or child to a session without registering them?

The sessions are for registered individuals only. Should you bring additional guests, they will need to be registered and paid, regardless of how many sessions they wish to attend. If your guests wish attend the the Friday night dinner and performance , they may make reservations in the reservation system. The concert in the evening and the exhibit hall are open to visit for free.

How do I get a roommate or someone to carpool to share a hotel room with?

WMTA does not facilitate roommates or carpools, if you indicate in the registration that you are interested in a shared ride/room, we will connect you with others so you can make those arrangements. If you are seeking a roommate or a carpool otherwise, we recommend that you contact your Local Association President to see who else is attending.

Can I bring my own food?

All food/beverages must be supplied and prepared by the Hotel. You are welcome to bring food your hotel to eat in your hotel. We cannot place orders on site, so please pre-order your meals when you register. Please indicate any food restrictions you may have and we will do our best to accommodate those.

When will I receive my registration confirmation?

If you registered online, your confirmation was automatically emailed to you upon completion of the registration process.

No, attendees may pick up your name tag at the Conference Welcome Desk in the hotel. The Welcome Desk will be open on Friday from 7:30am-11:30am and 12:30pm-2:00pm. It will also be open on Saturday from 7:30am to 11:00am. Program booklets will be online. Please check it out prior to the conference.

When I arrive at the conference what should I do?

Thursday will be a cash bar to mingle with others attending the conference. Conference registration desk will open at 7:30 a.m. where you can pick up your nametag. After you check in, we advise you to take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the program online. It contains many things that you will need during Conference such as the daily schedule, presenter bios, exhibitor listings and much more. There may be changes from the schedule since it was published in the WMTA newsletter.

What is the appropriate dress for this?

Dress in what makes you feel comfortable, but conference rooms can vary widely in temperature. We recommend you wear layers if you tend to get cool.

When will the conference schedule be available?

The full conference schedule with rooms and times will be available online before the conference. The schedule of events is subject to change up to the day before the event.

Do you provide scooters or wheelchairs?

No, we do not. You should contact the hotel directly to inquire about special assistance.

What about parking rates?

Some hotels do charge parking rates and you will find that information on their website.
